To help native mussels in Minnesota several conservation actions can be implemented . Here there are a few ideas:

  • Cleaning your boats after using them. Cleaning your boats is an important factor in helping mussels because a lot of zebra mussels attach themselves to boats.

  • Picking up your dog waste because a lot of pet wasteland on our waters

  • Researching and learning about mussels and understanding their ecology and life cycles.

  • Use clean and non-toxic chemicals for your land so there is no dangerous run-off.
