Several factors contribute to the endangerment of mussel populations. For example, habitat destruction is a significant threat as urban areas arise and agricultural practices change. It negatively affects the land. Another contributing factor is water pollution, Water pollution comes from many different things like boats, factories, and runoff. Runoff is when chemicals from land get into our waters. Another factor is invasive species like zebra mussels pose a serious threat by out-competing and displacing native mussel species. Finally, climate change is another contributing factor to the endangerment of native mussels.
